Counseling doesn’t have to be scary. You’ve been unsure about consulting a counselor, and you’ve put it off until you have run out of ideas. And when you think about talking to a professional, you worry they will think you are sick, crazy, or weak. And most of all, you are worried the counselor will ask you to do something you don’t know how to change.
I see your potential, even when you don’t. While you may not feel immediate relief in counseling, it is an invitation to greater awareness and motivation. And when you turn your doubt into determination, you find the courage you didn’t know existed.
So are you ready to have someone coach you to reach your personal and relationship goals?
My name is Marci Payne, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Clinical Psychotherapist.
I coach you from not only my professional experience and training, but also from my life and relationship experience as a mother, wife, and oldest sibling in my family. I care deeply about relating to others without being responsible to fix others. And I embrace being a work in progress and truly believe I can only coach you as far as I can get myself.
I also love education, and I am trained in Bowen Family Systems theory. Over the past 20 years, I have received training in many different therapy modalities, but I find Bowen Family Systems theory to be the most effective for long term change and for addressing a variety of problems.
What is Bowen Family Systems Theory?
It is a theory of human behavior that views problems in the context of relationships. So instead of viewing problems as being created solely in an individual or in brain chemistry, it views problems in the context of the family or relationship system. In other words, what goes on within a person impacts what goes on between people. And what goes on between people impacts what goes on within a person.
I help people understand relationships and how problems are co-created. With increased awareness, you can stop taking all the blame or stop giving all the blame. And then you can let go of anger and guilt that you may have held onto for years. You replace it with renewed confidence that you can have more control over your happiness and choices, even in the face of life and relationship challenges.
What will it be like to work with me?
I may be a trained and licensed counselor, but I am also a human being. I believe in using humor and being real with you. While I won’t ever tell you what to do, I will coach you step-by-step until you find a solution or strategy that works for you.
